ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ron LeLeux is an author, poet, and former two-term Mayor of the City of Sulphur, Louisiana.  He has an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Northeast Louisiana University.

In the summer of 1999, he released a collection of his poems titled West Elizabeth Street – Portraits & Letters, which is now in its sixth printing.  In June of 2000, Ron and Monroe native John F. Jones compiled a collection of interviews and photographs into a book titled Louisiana Stories – Growing Up in the Bayou State.  A second collection of his poetry titled Along the Way was released in the fall of 2007.

Ron was the first Chairman of the Southwest Louisiana Partnership for Economic Development and served three terms as vice-president of the Louisiana Municipal Association.  He has also been very active in civic and preservation efforts in his hometown.

In 1984, he began a career in college athletics as an Academic Counselor at his alma mater.  His work at Northeast was noted on ABC’s College Football the Race for Number 1 in the fall of 1985 and in a USA Today editorial in January of 1989.  He was a staff member of the 1987 NCAA Division I-AA National Championship football team.  In 1990, he accepted the position of Director of Academic Support at the University of Arkansas.  In 1992, he returned to his hometown of Sulphur when he accepted the position of Director of Athletic Compliance and Academic Support at McNeese State University.
Ron and his wife, Reneé, have a daughter, Abby.  She and her husband, Tyler, live in Houston, Texas.
